Beatriz Linares Cantillo has worked for over twenty-two years defending the rights of vulnerable groups. Lawyer and specialist in Public Management and Administrative Institutions of Universidad de los Andes. Beatriz has devoted much of her professional life to defending the rights of children, adolescents, youth, women, indigenous groups, Afro-Colombian communities and victims, from multiple public and private entities.
She has a great experience in the design and implementation of regulatory frameworks, public policies, programs and strategies for the protection of human rights with emphasis on prevention.
She is coauthor of the Children and Adolescents Law and addresses the structuring and implementation of policies and strategies to prevent the recruitment and use of children by illegal armed groups.
From 1994 until 2011, she supported the reports the Colombian delegation presented to the various committees of United Nations in matters of children, adolescents and gender issues.
Currently she is the director of the National Agency for Overcoming Extreme Poverty (ANSPE in Spanish). Where she works with regional authorities and communities to overcome extreme poverty at the local level.
